Things to do near Upchurch, Kent with the kids this summer!

The Summer holidays are upon us once again, so what is going on to entertain the little ones this summer? Here are some of our top picks for a day out with the kids!


Summer Holiday Fun! at Kent Life Heritage Farm Park

22 Jul - 31 Aug

Kent Life’s summer holiday schedule is packed full of entertainment and plenty of things to do everyday! Go on a hand powered paddle boat, enjoy an owl flying demonstration, join in with animal feeding sessions, or catch a show in the Big Top!

You can also step back in time and visit the Vintage Village, explore the Victorian Petts Farmhouse, or enjoy the 1950s Sandling Farmhouse.

There’s also indoor and outdoor play areas, fun farm rides, a bouncy castle, a wooden anagram hunt with a sweet treat and the chance to get arty in the Paint-a-Pot studio (small additional fee for the studio). Have lots of fun and make sure you visit the Ice Cream Hut!

Falconry Displays and Meet the Birds at Leeds Castle

This exciting display of Hawks, Falcons, Owls and more is included in your ticket price to the Castle! These breath-taking, free flying falconry displays take place in the Falconry Arena in its new location behind the Maze.

Held through April to September, there are two sessions: Daily Falconry Displays at 2pm Daily Meet the Birds at 3.30pm

Summertime at Leeds Castle

This summertime be entertained by a host of fun-filled family activities within the 500-acres of beautiful grounds and gardens.

Enjoy blue sky strolls through the sun-drenched Lady Baillie Mediterranean Garden Terraces, dream beside the streams, rivers and the moat, and take part in an exhilarating summer activities agenda, which will take you through the parklands, woodland walk and up to the thrilling children’s playground. Get ready to glide into the summer of fun at Leeds Castle! This event is included with the price of admission.

Summer Holiday Make It Sessions at Maidstone Museum

These fun sessions are linked to Maidstone Museum’s hilarious exhibition all about pants! To link to this exhibition, the Wednesday activity each week will have a pants theme, linked to different children’s stories with the same theme!

Other craft sessions will be linked to some of the other collections and galleries in the Museum. The cost is £3 per child per activity and booking is highly recommended.

Held on the following dates: July 26th to 28th August 2nd to 4th, 9th to 11th, 16th to 18, and 23rd to 25th.

There are three sessions per day. There will also be themed trails around the museum with collectable badges as prizes. The cost for the themed trails is £1 per child, payable at the desk. Please visit Maidstone Museum’s website for all the details, and to see which activities are on which days.


Wilder Holiday Club at Tyland Barn Nature Park and Gardens

This fun holiday club is suitable for children aged 5 to 11 years old.

They are filled with great activities, such as mini beast identification and pond dipping, as well as incorporating the Forest School ethos.

There’s lots of time for children to simply explore nature, learn about local wildlife, make new friends and let their imaginations run wild.

Teddy Bear picnic at Riverside Country Park

31st August

Bring along your picnic and join in the fun. There will be storytelling, fun and games. .. Most importantly, don't forget to bring your teddy bear! Suitable for accompanied children aged 3 to 7 years.
